Jeppesen's goal of providing Mariners around the globe with the necessary tools for
safe navigation has led to the development of the Jeppesen Piracy Update
service.
Piracy and other maritime crime is a constant risk to shipping and offshore petroleum operations.
Maritime attacks are rising, especially in the Gulf of Aden and Gulf of Guinea. Hundreds of millions of $ are lost to piracy every year.
Piracy Information is now available as an overlay on top of your digital C-MAP charts in OceanView. The Jeppesen OceanView navigation planning tool visualizes information to help navigators and operators identify, understand and manage risks posed by maritime crime.
Given the weather limitations pirates operates under, the piracy overlay can be combined with other C-MAP services in OceanView, such as weather and wave information and a route planning tool. This provides our clients with a precise overview of pirate threat areas and a tool to adjust you route in order to reduce risk and cut costs.
