dKart (ENC) Sounding to Obstruction application.
In April 2009 and again in February 2010, the IHO publicized a fault whereby
some shoal soundings would not be presented on an ECDIS display. Mariners were
advised to review planned routes in an ECDIS to display "all data", and
hydrographic offices were urged to review and update their source material.
Jeppesen is proud to announce the release of a dKart Sounding to Obstruction
application which effectively will assist ENC producer efforts to identify and
amend source data deficiencies.
The dKart Sounding to Obstruction application uses an ENC file feed where each
ENC (including base file and any update files) is checked for the presence of
sounding clusters where the exposition attribute is used. If so, each sounding
depth is then changed to an obstruction object type located in the depth
position. Common attributes are transferred automatically as well as an option
to set the water level attribute automatically (mandatory attribute for
Obstruction).
The application fully supports ENC product standards IHO S-57 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.1 as
well as the dKart proprietary DCF format. Corrections will be saved to the base
file or as an update file, depending upon the status for each ENC.
A comprehensive and detailed report will be created upon completion of the
checking and change processes.
This hot-fix application is released at no extra charge as part of a valid dKart
Inspector and dKart Editor Maintenance subscription agreement. It connects to
and requires use of a current dKart Inspector or dKart Editor software copy
protection device (Hardlock key).
